In 1973, Dr. Ted Hill and Dr. Lucian Rice joined together to form Biltmore Medical Associates. Dr. Virgil Thrash joined the duo in 1976 and the three practiced together until 1978 when they were joined by Dr. John Dean. The foursome had a vision to practice medicine from the heart. They were actually ahead of their time as they recognized the need to treat the whole person. They were practicing holistic medicine before it was in fashion. They knew that a person’s physical health was tied to their mental and spiritual health.
The trio practiced together until they were joined by Dr. James Ladd in 1990. Dr. Hill retired in 1993 and the same year Dr. Thomas Rennard joined the practice. A few years later in 1998, Dr. James Andrews came to Biltmore Medical. In 2015, Dr. Dean retired and Dr. Alan Morgan took over his practice.
From 1973 until now, the group has maintained the same vision; to practice medicine from the heart, treating the whole person- physically, mentally and spiritually. Today’s group has the same mindset as the original group did; to practice holistic medicine while delivering the best possible medical care.
