Medicine From the Heart

About Us

Biltmore Medical Associates is independently owned and operated, which means your health and wellness is our only priority. We are committed to providing you with the best possible medical care based on continuous improvement.

Our History

In 1973, Dr. Ted Hill and Dr. Lucian Rice joined together to form Biltmore Medical Associates. Dr. Virgil Thrash joined the duo in 1976 and the three practiced together until 1978 when they were joined by Dr. John Dean. The foursome had a vision to practice medicine from the heart. They were actually ahead of their time as they recognized the need to treat the whole person. They were practicing holistic medicine before it was in fashion. They knew that a person’s physical health was tied to their mental and spiritual health.

The trio practiced together until they were joined by Dr. James Ladd in 1990. Dr. Hill retired in 1993 and the same year Dr. Thomas Rennard joined the practice. A few years later in 1998, Dr. James Andrews came to Biltmore Medical. In 2015, Dr. Dean retired and Dr. Alan Morgan took over his practice.

From 1973 until now, the group has maintained the same vision; to practice medicine from the heart, treating the whole person- physically, mentally and spiritually. Today’s group has the same mindset as the original group did; to practice holistic medicine while delivering the best possible medical care.

Dr Rennard is wonderful. He is a very good doctor and genuinely cares about his patients. His assistant always calls back when calling in with questions or concerns in a timely manner. Other staff is friendly and nice as well. I recommend BMA to anyone I know who is looking for a physician.

I have been a patient of Dr. Andrews and Biltmore Medical for sixteen years. All my experiences have been excellent.  The professionalism of the staff is outstanding.

You respect the patient’s time, which I find very rare in the medical profession. Thank You.

Richard W.

Dr. Thrash has been my PCP for years, and I have complete confidence in him and his staff. He answers my many questions and I truly appreciate his friendly. yet business-like demeanor. I feel fortunate to have been his patient for so many years! Recently, Dr. Largent treated me in Dr. Thrash’s absence; and she, too, provided the same caring treatment and supportive demeanor.
